Welcome to Talking Tactics!

Talking Tactics was initially my second venture into football blogging in 2019 after I lost control of my first Facebook page where I wrote scouting reports (the page was even called The Scouting Reports). The event has a long story behind it, and losing the page that you worked so hard on it for a year is difficult, but starting Talking Tactics allowed me to try something new other than being known as “the guy who scouted players on Facebook”, which was also what I had in the back of my mind during that period.

Since 2019, I have had a lot of amazing experiences with football analytics, including being able to write articles and seeing them being published by different football sites, or 3 seasons working as a video and data analyst. I have learned a whole lot from those experiences, but I wanted to return to the beginning of my journey and just enjoy the process of writing analysis pieces or scouting reports, now with the inclusion of data analysis. And that is where Talking Tactics 2.0 comes in.

What can you expect from Talking Tactics?

All kind of things football-related, really, but mostly from an analytical standpoint, like match analysis, scout reports. I might not be able to post often due to my personal schedule (you know, university and work), but I will try my best to bring you the best articles in my ability whenever I have the time to write something. I mostly write about “underrated” teams and players, which are teams and players who do not receive as much attention as they should and from (possibly) any league in the world, like Atalanta or Lens, but I will write about "big teams” occasionally if I can find something interesting about Man City or Real Madrid.

Sometimes, here and there, I will write pieces about the football data or the visualisations that I really like and maybe try to replicate it as well. Football Manager stories are something that I want to write for a very long time, and while my story-telling might not be as good as other writers, I hope I can still bring you a good time and maybe an idea for a new FM save. Lastly, I might write a few personal posts like ranting about Southampton or just things IT-related that I learned and experienced during my university course. They are just my personal thoughts and opinions and I understand and respect if you have a different opinion to what I said.

One last thing, I see Talking Tactics as a small blog of mine so there is no need to subscribe. If you do want to subscribe, I hugely appreciate it and you will get to read my pieces from the convenient of your own email! I do not have a plan to start a paid subscription as I just want to write the articles because I enjoy the process of analysing matches/players and share my thoughts with you, the reader. If you do not enjoy what I write, no harsh feelings at all. If you do enjoy, you are more than welcome to stick around and I hope you can share what I am doing to anyone you know who are interested!

Thank you for finding and enjoying my small personal blog. It might not be much, but I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I do.
